Background of The Artist's Way
Screenwriter and novelist Julia Cameron first published The Artist's Way in 1992 and it has since been read by millions worldwide. Over the 12 chapters, it guides readers through a process to “discover and recover” their inner artist, finding the blocks in the way of their innate creativity. As Cameron explains: you do not have to learn how to be more creative; but instead you need to free your natural creativity.

What to Expect
Each session we will review the week’s chapter with added visuals, media and discussion. There will be assignments and exercises and the sessions will be bookended with personal check-ins and check-outs. It is really common for people attempting The Artist's Way alone to drop off before completing the 12 weeks - but as part of Creative Flow Club you will benefit from camaraderie, community and accountability.

What You Will Need
To take part you will need an open mind, and a copy of the book. The key exercises in The Artist's Way are daily Morning Pages (3 sides of A4 longhand) and a weekly Artist’s Date, and you'll want some additional time for other activities in the week - 5 hours outside of the sessions is a rough ballpark.
The more that you are able to put into the process, the more that you will get out of it. That said, I firmly believe that the experience needs to work for you and your life - self-flagellation about ‘getting behind’ isn't helpful, exercises can be adapted and we should use this creativity tool creatively!
DISCLAIMER The course is not a replacement for therapy and is not facilitated as such.

About Me
I am largely a musician and music-maker but have had many creative pursuits in the worlds of theatre, comedy, TV, photography, food and visual art. The Artist's Way was pivotal in my journey becoming a professional musician and I continue to use the lessons and practices from the book in my daily life. I have facilitated several rounds of Creative Flow Club, finding greater depths as a group each time, and find deep joy in being able to pass on the magic to other people.

‘The experience has been very timely for me and incredibly impactful. As well as nurturing creativity it’s inviting a radical change of attitude to oneself. It’s given me confidence where I lacked, and increased my self-worth. I felt incredibly seen and supported in this group, and valued. And utterly inspired! I didn’t want it to end and cannot recommend it enough. It’s grounding, nourishing, challenging, but worth every hurdle.’ Abby
‘Something magical happens when you carve out time to go through the process as a group, I would have never been so committed to reading the chapters, the Morning Pages and Artist Dates without the support of the group and I feel very lucky. The effect of doing this course lasts way beyond the 12 weeks and I’m so grateful for Elly’s thoughtful holding of the group and interactive sessions, we all felt very safe and supported throughout’. Rosy
